PHRI Jayapura: The Kamtibmas situation plays an important role in improving the economy

The Association of Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants (PHRI) of Jayapura Regency, Papua, said that the security situation and public order (kamtibmas) played an important role in improving the economy in the region.

PHRI Chairman of Jayapura Regency, Bambang Zulhadi, in Sentani, Tuesday, said that the economic cycle in this area still depends on the conducive situation of security and order.

"We hope that security will continue to be maintained properly so that the local regional government can take steps to increase the velocity of money in Jayapura Regency," he said.

Zulhadi also hopes that the existence of three New Autonomous Regions (DOB) in Papua will not slow down economic activity, especially at Sentani Airport which is the economic gateway in the land of 'Kenambai Umbai'.

"We really hope that security is maintained because it is part of supporting the occupancy rate of hotel rooms in Jayapura Regency," he said.

In addition, he wants the Sentani-Depapre road infrastructure to be realized soon so that visitors can visit tourist attractions in Jayapura Regency.

"Because that will also have an impact on improving the economy of the people who are in the villages and managers of tourist objects," he said again.

He ensured that if security continues to be guaranteed in the future, then the economy in Papua will grow faster and this will have an impact on hotels and restaurants in Jayapura Regency.

Thus, he added, these conditions would strengthen the resilience of the local economy from the potential impact of an economic slowdown in 2023.

"For this reason, security must be maintained so that economic activity in Kenambai Umbai can remain at a normal level," he said.
