The government will continue to encourage the development of the welfare of Indonesian Papuans in an integrated, holistic and cultural perspective and prioritizing indigenous Papuans.

Deputy V of President Jaleswari's Office of Staff Pramodhawardani said the government was pushing for welfare development in Papua coupled with the rule of law.

"How welfare development is supported by law order, good governance," Jaleswari said after meeting with Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security Mahfud MD at the Coordinating Ministry for Politics and Security, Jakarta, Tuesday (02/25/2020).

Jaleswari explained his meeting with Mahfud was a follow-up after the Presidential Instruction No. 9 of 2017 concerning the acceleration of welfare development in the provinces of Papua and West Papua ended in 2019.

He stressed, despite the Inpres deadline, President Joko Widodo continued to emphasize the development of welfare in the Cenderawasih Earth.

"This goes on to say that one of the President's focuses on Papua is about developing Papuan welfare," he said.

According to him, so far the central government's approach to Papua has spread in the relevant ministries and state institutions. Later, he said, the ministries and state institutions will continue to support the Papuan welfare development process.

"Keep working, but later there will be orchestration at the national level," he said.
