The TNI and Polri officers are approaching the public to return TNI weapons, victims of the MI-17 Helicopter accident owned by the Army. TNI Commander in Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto asked the community to return voluntarily to the TNI and Polri.
"The TNI has coordinated with the National Police and National Police Chief General Idham Aziz, has agreed to help find that the weapon is not misused for things that are not good," said Hadi, Tuesday (02/18/2020).
Previously, the team did not find any weapons when evacuating the remains of TNI MI Heli-17 victims at the crash site at Mandala Mountain, District, Oskop, Bintang Mountain District, 11 weapons that were not found including seven SS1 rifles and three SS1 weapons a pistol and one grenade launcher.
MI-17 helicopter took off from Oksibil Airport on 28 June 2019. The helicopter reportedly lost contact at 11.49 CEST at an altitude of 7,800 feet. The helicopter is in charge of transporting logistics to the Indonesian and Papua New Guinea Border Security Task Force in the Bintang Mountains.
At present the bodies have been returned to their hometowns. Before being sent home during the repatriation ceremony, Hadi gave an extra promotion to 12 bodies that had died while on duty.
