Maikel Yoko: Request for OTSUS to be continued
Despite the hectic coverage of Special Autonomy (Otsus) in Papua, currently various elements, both government and society, are quite busy in the continuation of its policies. However, one fact proves that not all indigenous Papuans (OAP) insist on rejecting the continuation of these policies aimed at accelerating development, public health and education.
The traditional leaders in the village of Skanto, Keerom Regency, are people who are determined to support the implementation of the Papua Special Autonomy in 2021, even though this decision has been made based on the results of customary deliberations involving the Skanto community in general.
Maikel Yoko, who represented the voice of the youth, said that the special autonomy policy was a shortcut to support the welfare of Papua. However, he also said that in the policy, a new and more realistic system must be implemented to reach the most basic classes of society.
"In general, we, the youth element, remain firm in supporting the second special autonomy policy. Because the purpose of the otsus itself is good, but in the future it must be right on target, "he said in a forum with other figures in the traditional" para-para "of Kampung Skanto.
He considered this because in principle, otsus was used to support the lives of people in Papua in achieving a better standard of living.
On the same occasion, Ishak Armin, who is the treasurer of Skanto village, agreed, saying that Otsus is the hope for Papua. However, what is unfortunate is that this hope must be trimmed by unreliable officials.
"We really hope that Otsus can be channeled directly to the community, not being played around with various convoluted reasons. Prosperity is the goal, but what is happening in society today is different, ”he said, annoyed by the bureaucracy created by unscrupulous officials who are actually Papuans themselves.
The central government, which has provided opportunities for indigenous Papuans to occupy positions in the government, is also an effort to make people's aspirations easier to understand and to solve various problems briefly.
Apart from that, the chief of the tribe, Emanuel Awi, who brought the aspirations of his people, also regretted the implementation of the otsus so far as if the realization was unclear.
"According to him, the program we have heard about so far is" run "where is the budget, because until now the people of Skanto do not quite feel the distribution pattern," he concluded.
In general, the people of Skanto have full hopes for the new special autonomy policy. They also want their aspirations to be heard by government elements at least at the provincial level. The proper Special Autonomy Fund cannot end, so we must support it together to continue.
In the interest of developing regions towards prosperity, there should not be a term 'Papua eats Papua'. Every official who has authority must be able to open his eyes and heart. Not only do we decorate shiny ranks with Tritons neatly lined up in private garages, while we people still eat 'land'.
Responding to the various actions regarding the rejection of the special autonomy that was happening, according to him, it was not enough on behalf of the Papuan people in general. These actions are simply a role play in the interests of the OAP.
