Sri Mulyani: The government is concerned about Papua

The government claims to have quite a lot of sides to the provinces of Papua and West Papua, especially in the context of implementing special autonomy (autonomy).

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that over the past two decades the special autonomy fund budget for the two regions in eastern Indonesia has reached IDR138.65 trillion.

"Throughout the years 2002-2021, the total autonomy fund and additional infrastructure funds (DTI) reached Rp. 138.65 trillion," Sri Mulyani said in a virtual video.

So Papua and West Papua actually have got a bigger side of the government, compared to other areas such as East Kalimantan, Maluku, or even Aceh, he said.

He added that the special autonomy funds for Papua and West Papua are an additional aspect for the two regions, in line with other fund allocations that are also obtained by other provinces / regions in the country. For example, transfers to regions and village funds (TKDD), as well as the budget for ministries and agencies (K / L) in the Papua and West Papua regions.

The details, if during 2005-2021, TKDD in Papua and West Papua Provinces had reached Rp. 702.3 trillion. This is in addition to the fact that in the last five years, the TKDD of the two regions in eastern Indonesia was the largest compared to other provinces / regions in Indonesia.

"During the last five years the TKDD in Papua and West Papua was the largest (compared to other parts of Indonesia), reaching Rp. 34 trillion to Rp. 38.2 trillion," he said.

In fact, Sri Mulyani emphasized that these two provinces have received higher support from the central government, compared to other provinces in Indonesia.

"So Papua and West Papua actually have a bigger side from the government, compared to other regions such as East Kalimantan, Maluku, or even Aceh," he said.
