The Regent of Jayapura wants the Special Autonomy Fund to be Transferred Directly to the District

The Regent of Jayapura, Mathius Awoitauw hopes that the special autonomy funds from the Central Government through the regencies can be directly transferred to the districts.

According to him, by doing so, the use of special autonomy funds for development in Papua could be more effective.

"The people live in the village of the village in the district, so if it is more focused on the district or maybe directly to the district through the district. That is very effective," said Mathius Awoitauw when met after holding an audience for the expansion of the Papua Province New Autonomous Region with the leadership of the Indonesian MPR in Jakarta.

Not only is it more effective, in Mathius Awoitauw's view, if this special autonomy fund is transferred directly to the districts, the people in Papua can know about the amount of budget disbursed by the central government.

That way the special autonomy fund budget can become more transparent. The reason is, he said, currently the people in Papua who live in the districts do not know that there is special autonomy funds.

Therefore, he said, a concept like this could break the bureaucracy that is currently so long.

Furthermore, Mathius Awoitauw said, when the special autonomy funds were transferred directly to the districts, their use could be immediately published.

As a result, everyone can find out how much money has gone down and what the funds are used for.

"So that the people can see firsthand, they can directly see if there is special autonomy funds," he said.

That's all he said, back again in order to accelerate the development of Papua that is more focused.
