Good News, Sri Mulyani Increases Papua's Special Autonomy Budget
The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) plans to increase the allocation of the Papua Province special autonomy funds (Otsus).
Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani said this plan was included in the revision of Law Number 21 of 2001 concerning Special Autonomy (Otsus) for Papua.
"In this case there is an increase in the special autonomy fund from 2 percent to 2.25 percent of the national General Allocation Fund (DAU)," said Sri Mulyani.
In addition, the government has also added the funding scheme to transfer funds through block grant and performance based schemes. Previously, Papua's special autonomy funds were only channeled through transfer funds through a block grant scheme.
"So the effectiveness of the special autonomy fund, we will combine the block grant of direct transfer allocations, as so far, and based on the performance base," he said.
Through this scheme, it means that the use of funds is submitted to regional governments in accordance with regional priorities and needs in the context of implementing regional autonomy.
"To ensure that the Papuan people really enjoy the special autonomy funds, both for education and health facilities," he said.
For information, the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) noted that the realization of the 2020 Regional Budget (APBD) expenditure was quite encouraging. Until the end of last year, the realization reached Rp1,088.7 trillion or 100.94% of the allocation.
