KKB Claims to Shoot Dead 5 TNI Members, Major General Ignatius React Firmly

The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua again made hoaxes. They claimed to have shot dead five TNI soldiers around the Bomid river, Nduga Regency, Papua.

Pangdam XVII / Cenderawasih Maj. Gen. Ignatius Yogo Triyono immediately reacted to the KKB claim. He confirmed that the news circulating on social media that the TNI AD soldiers died in a firefight with the KKB in Nduga was not true, aka hoaxes.

"There are no TNI soldiers including those from Infantry Battalion 700 / WYC who were injured or killed in Nduga as circulated on social media. That's a hoax, "said Major General Ignatius in Jayapura.

According to Ignatius, the KKB deliberately made hoaxes to corner the government and the security apparatus (TNI-Polri).

The KKB, according to Ignatius, deliberately distorted the facts on the ground by spreading fake news. Head of Information for Kogabwilhan III Colonel Czi IGN Suriastawa in early March, revealed that in general the KKB has three wings of movement. Namely the political, clandestine and armed wings.

"The three wings of this movement use social media to communicate with each other, plan actions and spread fake news to form bad opinions about the Indonesian government, including the TNI-Polri, regarding the Papua issue through various social media platforms," said Suriastawa.

According to Suriastawa, the KKB blew hoax news on social media as a trick to create an opinion that Papua is always in a tense condition. This has happened many times.

"This is a trick. They do it massively, especially on social media, ”said Colonel Suriastawa.

However, both the Pangdam and the Head of Kogabwilhan expect TNI personnel on duty in vulnerable areas to always be alert and not careless.
