Opung Saman Marpaung, 72 years old, is the oldest elderly person in Puncak Papua Regency to receive the corona vaccine.

Opung Marpaung received the Phase II corona vaccine for ASN, TNI Polri, which was carried out by the local government.

After being vaccinated, Opung Marpaung admitted that he did not show any reaction to his body.

"After being vaccinated, I did not feel pain from the injection, drowsiness, headache, or hunger. It's normal, everything is normal," explained Opung Marpaung, when talking with the Head of Disease Prevention and Control Division of the Papua Provincial Health Office, doctor Aaron Rumainum at Ilaga, the capital of Puncak Regency, Saturday (6/3).

Opung Marpaung admitted that he deliberately came to the vaccination launch site in Puncak, to volunteer to represent the elderly in Puncak.

"I really want to get a vaccine, so I can be more confident. Moreover, I always flew from Puncak to Timika, or vice versa," said Opung.

Previously, the Papua Puncak Regency Government carried out the first vaccinations in the area, for ASN, TNI Polri and other public servants.

Vaccinations are carried out after medical personnel run tests including blood pressure. If you pass 16 questions and all of them have no complaints, the medical staff feels healthy, then the participant is ready to be vaccinated.

"This time, the vaccine is aimed at public officials, because it is dealing directly with the community. All officials at Puncak will receive vaccinations, so they will have antibodies against the COVID-19 virus, "he explained.

The Puncak Regency Government targets that in June, vaccinations will be carried out to the general public. He hopes that the public can receive the corona vaccine.

"I hope that people are not afraid to receive the corona vaccine and do not believe in hoax information related to the corona vaccine. In fact, this vaccination is one of the steps in preventing the spread of corona," he said.
