Kaimana Student Association: Arrest Otsus Mafia for the Welfare of Papua and West Papua

The Kaimana Student Association held a peaceful demonstration demanding the continuation of Special Autonomy (Otsus) in front of the Office of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) in Central Jakarta.

According to the Action Coordinator of the Kaimana Student Association, Moytuer Boimasa, the action was also held in response to the 54th anniversary of the granting of PT Freeport's permit.

In the action, the mass of dozens of people unfurled a banner containing the support of the Kaimana Student Association for the implementation of Otsus.

"First, we support Otsus to develop Papua and West Papua towards prosperity. Second, regional expansion to advance Papua and West Papua. The third is PT Freeport for the welfare of the Papuan people, ”said Boimasa in his statement, Thursday (8/4).

Boimasa said that Kaimana students supported Otsus to be continued. Because, the implementation of Otsus is very important to encourage the welfare of the Papuan people from the mountains to the coast.

"We also ask the central government to pay attention to the regions and take action against and arrest the special autonomy fund mafia," he said.

Boimasa also conveyed that welfare would not be felt if the Special Autonomy funds continued to be corrupted. Another issue raised by the Kaimana Student Association was the matter of regional expansion.

"We support the expansion of the new autonomous region so that development in Papua and West Papua is right on target," he said.

During the action, several students participating in the demonstration brought posters that read Otsus for the future of Papua and West Papua. Also a poster that reads Support Special Autonomy for the Prosperity of Papua, West Papua and Capture the Special Autonomy Mafia.
