PON Papua, 8,410 TNI Polri Prepared to Maintain Security

A total of 8,410 TNI Polri personnel will be deployed in the security of XX Papua PON which will be held in October 2021.

The Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Pol AM Kamal, said that coordination with various parties continues to be carried out in securing PON Papua.

"We have prepared 8,410 TNI Polri personnel in 4 PON implementation clusters, namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika and Merauke," he explained, Tuesday (20/4).

Of the 8,410 security forces, consisting of 4,250 TNI and 3,500 Polri personnel, 600 Civil Service Police Units and 60 Basarnas members.

"Everything is ready and the personnel on duty have received vaccinations from their respective units," explained Kamal.

Kamal said that the security situation in the 4 areas where PON Papua is implemented is currently safe and conducive.

"Hopefully this security can have a positive impact on all PON events, both for athletes, officials, committees and invited guests who will be present in Papua," said Kamal.
