DPR Supports TNI-Polri to destroy KKB in Papua

The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua has been increasingly committing acts of violence by attacking civilians and security forces which have continued to cause casualties. The latest KKB incident attacked a group of the Beoga District recovery review team, Puncak Regency, and killed the Papua Regional BIN (Kabinda) Head Brigadier General I Gusti Putu Dani Nugraha Karya.

From the series of incidents of attacks carried out by KKB, support for the suppression of KKB continues to arrive. Including from the DPR who considered the actions carried out by the KKB were beyond humanitarian limits and a massive chase had to be carried out.

"The TNI-Polri must pursue, especially to ex-deserters. This shooting can be seen that Kabinda has been marked. Those who have this knowledge and skills at least have the ability to shoot above average," said DPR Commission I member Bobby Adhityo Rizaldi, in Jakarta, Monday (26/4/2021).

According to Bobby, in the effort to crush the KKB, the TNI-Polri have been very careful. This includes efforts to carry out security and order operations in Papua. Therefore, it is not surprising that there are almost no human rights issues that have hit the two institutions recently.

He considered that President Joko Widodo's instruction to the TNI-Polri to take firm action against the KKB could be interpreted as an order for additional personnel and security operations. The DPR also fully supports the position of the president, including if there is an operation to crush the KKB.

As well as taking firm action against the KKB in Papua, Bobby considered it necessary to evaluate patrols and chase operations. Thus it is believed that it will narrow the space for the KKB to move.

Member of Commission I DPR from the Nasdem Party faction, Hillary Brigita Lasut, assessed that the KKB in Papua was already an act of a terrorist separatist group (KST). He sees that the actions taken by KST have increasingly threatened the safety of the lives of Papuans.

Hillary argued that the incident which resulted in the death of the Head of BIN Papua was a real form of BIN's sacrifice in defending the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia. This condition has also become a symbol of BIN's dedication in carrying out the law, namely as the front line in the national security system.
