The Jayawijaya-Papua Regional Library and Archives Service adds 3,000 books to the library

The Regional Library and Archives Service (DPAD) of Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Province is preparing to add as many as 3,000 new books to libraries in the area to increase the reading interest of the local community.

Head of DPAD Jayawijaya Primus Oagay when contacted in Wamena, Tuesday, said the 3,000 books were a program prepared at
the year 2021.

"In 2021, there will be an additional 3,000 additional books procured by the Jayawijaya Regional Representative Council," he said.

He explained that apart from textbooks for elementary, junior high and high school students, some of the books are recommendations from the local government.

Prior to the distribution of the books to the library, according to him, the numbering and classification of the books would be given.

"Later, after being given the new numbering, maybe the current year or after one year later we will distribute it," he said.

In 2020, his party will also procure 3,000 textbooks.

"Previously, in 2020 we also conducted procurement, until today it has not been distributed," he said.

Previously, he admitted that interest in reading in Jayawijaya was very low. However, his party continues to motivate residents to read hard by presenting new reading books.

The regional library which is located on Jalan Diponegoro or behind the Jayawijaya Regent's Office has been opened so residents can come to read there, said Primus Oagay.
