Requested PON XX Papua Venue be Completed 3 Months Prior to the Implementation

General Secretary, the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Papua said the obstacle currently being experienced is the preparation for the PON venues.

"One thing that is a problem today is in terms of preparation. The preparation is more about the venues which are currently being prepared by both the Public Works, Disorda and PB PON offices, in this case the Government, "he said.

Kenius hopes that the venues will be ready for use before PON so that Papuan athletes can adapt well.

"We hope that 3 months or 4 months before the PONs are all ready for use so that our athletes as the host will not feel strange in their own country," he said.

He also explained that most of the athletes undergo TC outside Papua.

"Most of our athletes are doing TC outside, because of the limited venue," he said.

Incomplete venues, Kenius revealed that athletes who had no venue were still undergoing TC outside Papua.

“If there is no (venue), our athletes cannot practice. It looks like maybe they will wake up in one month maybe, but until now there is no venue yet, ”he explained.

The General Secretary of the KONI Papua hopes that XX PON will not be postponed any longer.

"We hope that PON will not be postponed again, for reasons of athlete safety or other reasons," said Kenius.

He really hopes PON XX Papua will continue to be implemented by getting super tight security from related parties.
