LMA 7 TRIBE KAB. BINTUNI BAY: WE REJECT 1 JULY TPN OPM Anniversary

Chairman of the Indigenous Peoples Institution (LMA) 7 Tribes Kab. Teluk Bintuni, Marthen Wersin firmly rejects that July 1 is the anniversary of TPN OPM.

“There is no pro-Papuan independence in Kab. Bintuni Bay is approaching July 1, 2021. We firmly reject it. We are NKRI,” said Marthen.

Regarding pro-independence provocations, Marthen suggested that it is necessary to anticipate in the interior, namely the Sough Tribe and the Moskona Tribe. The majority of the people of the two tribes are considered to still have a traditional mindset so they are easily provoked.

"It is necessary to anticipate with education, lest our society be consumed by hoaxes from certain irresponsible elements," said Marthen.

Marthen said that LMA 7 Tribes is willing to help the government to provide understanding to the community so that they are not easily provoked.

Starting July 2021, in line with the legal status of the organization, in the future LMA 7 Tribes will run various programs for indigenous peoples. These include socialization so that people are not easily provoked by anarchist invitations and encourage grassroots economic development programs.
