Supporting PON Papua, PUPR Builds 15 Flats of IDR 330 Billion

The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing through the Directorate General of Housing is ready to support the implementation of the XX National Sports Week (PON) 2021 in Papua. Until now, at least the Ministry of PUPR has budgeted around Rp. 330.4 billion to build around 15 flats for accommodation facilities for the implementation of the sporting event.

"The budget for the construction of 15 towers to support the XX PON event in Papua is approximately Rp 330.4 billion," said Plt. Director of Flats at the Directorate General of Housing, Ministry of PUPR Maryoko Hadi, in a press release, Monday (31/5).

According to Maryoko, the construction of vertical housing is not only helping the process of implementing PON XX but also very helpful for beneficiaries to get a decent place to live in Papua Province.

Furthermore, Maryoko explained, the construction of the Rusun was able to run well thanks to good coordination between the Ministry of PUPR and the local government and also PB PON Papua as the Organizing Committee of XX Papua PON 2021.

“The 15 towers of flats in Papua are spread over three areas, namely Jayapura Regency (5 flats), Merauke Regency (5 flats) and Jayapura City (5 flats). The flats will also be allocated for ASN, TNI/POLRI, Students/Students, Santriwan/Santriwati, and Church Congregations after the implementation of PON XX Papua in 2021," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Papua Housing Provision Agency (P2P) I Faisal Soedarno accompanied by the PPK for Flats and Special Homes, Marinus Rino Kambu revealed that his party had deployed officers from the Papua Province Housing Provision Work Unit to support the implementation of the prestigious event held in Papua Province. "The Rusun development program, he added, has been implemented since 2016 until 2021," he said.

In the implementation of PB PON XX 2021 Papua, he added, the committee certainly needs adequate accommodation facilities so that the Ministry of PUPR provides Temporary Use of Flats that have been built.

"In addition to flats, the PUPR Ministry has also budgeted Rp 21.6 billion to support building improvements and building quality improvements in the form of installing air conditioners, parking areas and fences for the convenience and safety of athletes and officials so that the building is ready for use," he said.

For information, the XX Papua National Sports Week 2021 is the main national sporting event to be held in Papua from September to November 2021. The Papua Bangkit Main Stadium is the main location for the implementation of this activity, both the opening and closing ceremonies. The tagline adopted at PON XX 202 is "Torang Bisa" which is a form of Papuan encouragement.

"We hope that the construction of flats can provide a smooth process for implementing the XX PON 2021 and be able to reduce the housing backlog in Papua Province," he hoped.
