Tembagapura Police to Improve Coordination to Prevent KKB

The Police of the Tembagapura Sector, Mimika, Papua, coordinated with the TNI and Polri units assigned to the area to increase patrol activities at vulnerable points. This is to prevent the re-entry of armed criminal groups (KKB).

Copperpura Police Chief Iptu Menase Sayori in Timika, Tuesday, June 1, 2021, said that through harmonious cooperation from all components, including local residents, KKB will think again about entering the Tembagapura District.

"I will coordinate with all unit leaders in Tembagapura, then with the management of PT Freeport Indonesia. I will build and maintain communication with local communities starting from Banti to Mile 74. We will increase patrols as I usually do in Ilaga," Sayori said.

Iptu Sayori has just been sworn in as the Chief of the Tembagapura Police on Monday, May 31, 2021, replacing Iptu Eduardus Edison. Previously, Iptu Sayori served as Kapolsek Ilaga, Puncak Regency, Papua.

According to him, the Tembagapura District area which is directly adjacent to Puncak and Intan Jaya Regencies has so far been vulnerable to KKB entry. Moreover, in that area there is a mining company PT Freeport Indonesia, which has often been the target of terror attacks on the KKB since the 2000s.

"We don't want what happened two years ago to happen again. This takes hard work, we can't relax. If we relax, we will definitely have guests. But if we press hard, they will think twice about getting into Tembagapura," he said. .

Mimika Police Chief AKBP IGG Era Adhinata said Iptu Sayori had long experience in handling KKB for many years working in Ilaga, Puncak Regency.

"He will not be surprised because he has very experience dealing with KKB in Ilaga because it is the basis of a number of KKB leaders, including Lekagak Telenggen," said Era Adhinata.
