Police Arrest Papuan KKB Shooter Entourage of Ex-Police Chief Tito Karnavian

The police arrested a member of the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB) who was involved in the shooting of former National Police Chief Tito Karnavian, while still serving as the Papuan Police Chief.

The Head of Public Relations of the Papuan Police, Kombes Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, said the identity of the perpetrator was Osimin Wenda alias Usimin Telenggen alias Ustel Bin Laden alias Kilongginik. He was arrested at 11.25 WIT, Thursday, July 22, 2021, in Wandigobak Village, Puncak Jaya Regency.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Police arrested a member of the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB) who was involved in the shooting of the group of former National Police Chief Tito Karnavian, while still serving as the Papuan Police Chief.

The Head of Public Relations of the Papuan Police, Kombes Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, said the identity of the perpetrator was Osimin Wenda alias Usimin Telenggen alias Ustel Bin Laden alias Kilongginik. He was arrested at 11.25 WIT, Thursday, July 22, 2021, in Wandigobak Village, Puncak Jaya Regency.


According to Kamal, initially at 07.30 WIT, officers received information that one of the DPOs of the Puncak Jaya Police was going down to the city and was at the market. The team then conducted an investigation around the Mulia District Market, Puncak Jaya Regency.

"At 11.00 WIT, the team saw the perpetrators moving from the market using two-wheeled vehicles and heading for a new road that leads to the Philia District. At 11.25 WIT, the team stopped the perpetrators in Wandigobak Village and immediately made arrests," he explained.

Osimin Wenda was also detained at the Puncak Jaya Police, Papua.

Sentenced to Life in Prison in 2014
Osimin Wenda, from the results of the initial examination, turned out to have received a life sentence from the judge in 2014 and escaped from Abepura Prison in 2018.

"The perpetrators' activities are known to often impede truck drivers who pass on the new road to Philia," Kamal emphasized.

A number of crimes committed by Osimin Wenda are as follows:

1. Involved in the Pirime Police attack in November 2012

2. Involved in shooting or stabbing the former Papuan Police Chief who was then Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian in 2012

3. Arrested by Timsus Polda Papua on 15 July 2013

4. Escaped from Abepura Prison on January 8, 2016

5. Involved in the shooting of a motorcycle taxi driver on behalf of Yanmar in Popome Village, Lanny Jaya Regency in 2018

6. Engaged in a shootout with joint personnel in Popome Village in 2018.
