The Yapen Islands Police, who are supported by the BKO Brimob Police of Papua, are on the move to hunt for the new Papuan KKB led by the TPNPB commander, Fernando Worabai.

Launching from tribratanews.polri.go.id, the National Police carried out law enforcement activities in Sasawa Village, West Yapen District, Yapen Islands Regency, at around 10.30 WIT on Friday (6/8/2021).

The Yapen Islands Police Chief, AKBP Ferdyan Indra Fahmi, explained that the law enforcement activities were based on the results of analysis and reports from people who were restless with the activities of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).

"The action or incident has been investigated and examined by witnesses, including the results of closed network monitoring.

We can confirm that the perpetrators of these activities or criminal acts carried out by the KKB under the control of calling himself the commander of TPNPB Region II Saireri are Fernando Worabai and his group," said AKBP Ferdyan.

Their criminal activities have happened repeatedly.

The motive is to show the existence of this group which considers itself part of the resistance movement in separating themselves from the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

"Their form of struggle is a militant struggle to take up arms to disrupt and disturb the community's activities and even interfere with the activities of the regional government," said the Yapen Police Chief.

Arriving at the location, it was found that several people who were closely related to this group were carrying out activities using long-barreled firearms.

"After we investigated and took action at the crime scene, the Papuan KKB group fled.

During the search by the authorities, 3 illegally assembled firearms along with other evidence were found.

Also 2 LPG gas cylinders that have been designed in such a way to be used to fight what is suspected as an improvised bomb," said the Police Chief.
"Those who surrender, we will give appreciation, but if their names are included in the list of suspects or the DPO, we will all carry out law enforcement processes," he said.

KKB PPua is trying to recruit people who do not understand kamtibmas.

Regarding the information in one of the media that said the authorities had arrested two sympathizers of the group, the Police Chief dismissed the news.

Because in that incident Papuan KKB members fled into the forest and the officers only got some evidence, both homemade weapons and homemade gas cylinders (explosives).

"No one was arrested, but there was a first resistance from those who shot at the police, so they shot back, there were no casualties and members managed to secure some homemade weapons they left behind because they immediately ran away."

The Police Chief revealed that by August 17, 2021, the TNI and Polri officers were anticipating possible threats or vulnerabilities to Kamtibmas.
