The Minister of Home Affairs Asks for PON Papua Preparation to be Maximized

Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian together with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs inspected a number of sports venues in Jayapura, Papua Province. The review is to ensure the readiness of the sports arena ahead of the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) 2021 in Jayapura.

The Minister of Home Affairs explained that although it was officially opened on October 2, 2021, several sports had started to be competed earlier in September. For this reason, he wants to ensure that all preparations have been maximized.

"We think that what the Coordinating Minister said earlier was 3 (three) things, the first might be readiness, wanting to see the readiness of the venue and then the readiness of the management organization supporting the activities for the activity itself," said the Minister of Home Affairs at Lukas Enembe Stadium Jayapura, Friday (10/10). 9).

During his visit, the Minister of Home Affairs said that all the venues he reviewed in Jayapura were still in the preparation process to be perfected ahead of the D day of the implementation of the national sporting event. He also asked the organizing committee together with the support team who provided assistance to really check the readiness of each venue.

"It's really checked, especially from the committee, really checked in detail for each venue and the readiness of the organization, both the committee that manages the organization as a whole and technically specific, this needs preparation," he said.

The Minister of Home Affairs also said that in connection with the implementation of the XX Papua PON 2021, which was still carried out during the Covid-19 pandemic, this was a challenge and special attention from President Joko Widodo. For this reason, it is requested that the acceleration of vaccination continues. Not only accelerating vaccination, his party will also continue to ensure that all sporting events are carried out in accordance with the Covid-19 health protocol.

Not only that, the Minister of Home Affairs and his entourage also saw the simulation of the entry flow and the implementation of prokes for the audience at the opening ceremony. Then, the Minister of Home Affairs together with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs also had a meeting with a number of relevant stakeholders in the implementation of the XX Papua PON.
