LMA and Fakfak Youth Demonstrations to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Papua Special Autonomy
The Indigenous Peoples Institution (LMA) and Fakfak Youth, totaling more than 20 people, took to the streets on Wednesday (20/10/2021) afternoon to give speeches in full support of the implementation of the Special Autonomy (Otsus) for Sustainable Papua.
The demonstration was held at the Thumburuni traffic light junction and Taman Satu Tungku Tiga Batu. In addition to the speeches, they also distributed paper leaflets to motorists and passengers passing through the area. The leaflet reads "A call to support the sustainable Otsus program".
Arifandi Tofi and his friends took turns giving speeches inviting all people in the Land of Papua, especially Mbaham Matta, Fakfak Regency to support Otsus for Sustainable Papua.
According to Arifandi, Otsus has been running for 20 years in Papua, providing positive benefits in terms of development and regional expansion, starting from villages, districts, regencies/cities and provinces.
"Concrete evidence from the implementation of Papua and West Papua as Otsus regions has now been felt, starting from the village head to the governor being a native Papuan, free education, free health, and more adequate infrastructure development," he said.
With the existence of Otsus, he continued, the Papuan people began to rise up in line with other nations and regions without losing their identity as Papuans.
"We have special autonomy, let's support and oversee the development of Papua, which is prosperous and prosperous," he asked.
Meanwhile, the Chair of the Fakfak Regency LMA, Falentinus Kabes emphasized that his party or Fakfak Regency LMA fully supports the enactment of Law Number 2 of 2021 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 21 of 2001 concerning Papua's Special Autonomy.
"Although there are pros and cons about Otsus Papua, it is a natural thing and is a democratic dynamic," said Falen Kabes.
Therefore, the LMA of Fakfak Regency voiced to various elements in West Papua, especially in Fakfak Regency to keep the situation conducive.
"Don't be easily provoked to take actions that will cause disturbances in the security and social order and political and security instability in Papua," the former Papua Pos journalist asked.
According to media monitoring, the demonstration ended at Taman Satu Tungku Tiga Batu by signing a petition to support sustainable Otsus.
