Patients recovering from COVID-19 in West Papua increased by 31 people
The West Papua COVID-19 Task Force (Satgas) reported 31 patients recovered from COVID-19 on Wednesday, 30 from Teluk Bintuni Regency and 1 from Sorong City.
Spokesman for the West Papua COVID-19 Task Force, Doctor Arnold Tiniap in Manokwari, Wednesday, said with this number of recoveries, there were 77 active cases in Teluk Bintuni Regency and 4 remaining in Sorong City.
He also said an additional 4 positive cases today came from Kaimana 2 people, Manokwari 1, and Sorong City 1 person. Meanwhile, the death case due to COVID-19 also increased by 1 from South Sorong.
"Today, in West Papua, one more case of death due to COVID-19 from South Sorong has been added. So the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 in this province has reached 354 people since the beginning of the pandemic until now," said doctor Arnold Tiniap.
He admitted that there were five regions in West Papua Province with zero active cases of COVID-19, namely Fakfak Regency, Teluk Wondama, Raja Ampat, Maybrat and Arfak Mountains.
"From 13 regencies and cities, 5 of them have not found new cases this October," said Arnold Tiniap.
Meanwhile, the Governor of West Papua, Dominggus Mandacan, on an occasion in Manokwari, said that the province is targeted to be free of positive cases of corona by the end of 2021.
"Seeing the trend of recovering COVID-19 patients along with the findings of sloping cases in 13 districts/cities, we believe West Papua can achieve zero cases by the end of 2021," said Dominggus Mandacan.
