The National Police Chief Says Towards the End of the Year Papuan KKB Activities Increase, TNI/Polri Asked to Be Alert

The terrorist acts of the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB) are still known to be a threat that needs to be watched out for. National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that towards the end of the year, the activities of the KKB would increase and strengthen.

Therefore, Listyo asked all members of the National Police along with TNI soldiers to be aware of threats from the Papuan KKB. With the increased activity of the Papuan KKB, it is considered that it has the potential to cause security disturbances. "The activities of the KKB, KKSB (armed separatist criminal groups) will increase in intensity," Listyo explained while giving a briefing with TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto in Timika, Papua, Friday (22/10).

Listyo also instructed his staff and asked TNI soldiers to remain alert to guard areas in Papua such as when maintaining the security of the XX National Sports Week (PON). "Keep it up and continue until the end of the year, yesterday's success made us proud. However, we must not be careless because we have a task at hand," said Listyo at the Headquarters of the 20th Raider Infantry Brigade/IJK, Timika, Papua.

Furthermore, Listyo also expressed his gratitude directly to the police and TNI soldiers who have maintained security and order during the XX PON. Then, he also said that for Indonesia and Papua, the implementation of PON XX was of very strategic value because it was a national event held in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Therefore, Listyo explained that the success of the XX PON in Papua was an opportunity to show the people of Indonesia and the world that the Earth of Cendrawasih is a safe area and ready to be the location for large-scale events. "This can all happen because of the hard work of TNI and Polri colleagues as well as various related elements of society," he added.

Then, Listyo told a little story about the efforts of the police and the TNI to successfully dispel and prevent threats from the political criminal group (KKP) ahead of the XX Papua PON. He explained that the TNI/Polri were always monitoring the movements of groups that were trying to disrupt the implementation of the PON, especially in the last days.
