Governor of Mandacan Supports New New Guinea Expansion in West Papua

The Governor of West Papua Province, Dominggus Mandacan admitted that his party supports the plan to expand the New Autonomous Region (DOB) in West Papua.

"All policies from the central government, we must support for the sake of good and equitable development," said West Papua Governor Mandacan, Sunday (21/11/2021).
 
Moreover, this policy is the hope of the people of West Papua, for the division of regencies, cities and Southwest Papua.

"So we continue to support it, because with the expansion, development will automatically be closer to the community," said Mandacan.

Thus, progress in this area can progress more quickly and develop.

"We 100 percent support the plan, it's just that when Jakarta wants to expand, we will continue to support it," he concluded.

Previously, based on a letter issued by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, on September 30, regarding the plan to form new autonomous regions in Papua and West Papua.
 
The letter includes plans for the formation of new autonomous regions in Papua and West Papua in the upcoming 2022 National Legislation Program, in accordance with applicable laws.
