The Government Speeds Up Trans-Papua Development for the Jayapura-Wamena Section
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) continues to develop infrastructure in Papua and West Papua.
Currently, the focus is on the Trans Papua Road, the Jayapura-Wamena section.
The Director General (Dirjen) of Highways at the PUPR Ministry Hedy Rahadian said that until now some of the Trans-Papua Roads have been paved and others are in the process of being paved.
According to him, in terms of road access, there are only a few more that have not been penetrated to reach the Trans-Papua target.
"If it is translucent, only a few remain. We will focus on Jayapura-Wamena first," said Hedy at The Tribata Darmawangsa Jakarta, Friday (10/15/2021).
Hedy said, Wamena became one of the strategic areas to facilitate the flow of logistics. Therefore, roads in this area will be able to reduce logistics costs.
"Areas that are considered strategic, such as Wamena, will be prioritized by penetrating one of the logistics corridors first, so that later they can reduce logistics costs," said Hedy.
Launching Setkab.go.id, Presidential Special Staff Billy Mambrasar said that until September 2021 the construction of the Trans Papua Road had penetrated 3,446 kilometers of the total length of 3,462 kilometers.
Of the 3,446 kilometers, 1,733 kilometers have been asphalted and the remaining 1,712 kilometers have not been asphalted.
To note, the construction of the Trans-Papua Road is included in the national strategic project (PSN) and the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).
The Trans Papua project was built with the aim of improving the welfare of the Papuan people by increasing access and connectivity between regions so as to open up isolated areas.
In addition, the development of Trans Papua is also expected to reduce the cost index, reduce poverty and equitable distribution of infrastructure development throughout Indonesia.
