Bharada Resi, the victim of the KKB shooting, was evacuated to Jayapura
Bharada Resi Nugroho, a Brimob member who suffered a gunshot wound, Saturday (22/1) was evacuated to Jayapura using a police helicopter.
"Currently, the victim has arrived at Sentani airport and was immediately taken to Bhayangkara Hospital to receive medical treatment for the gunshot wound he suffered," said the Head of the Bintang Mountains Police, AKBP Cahyo Sukarnito, to Antara, Saturday.
According to Cahyo, the victim, who had a gunshot wound to the left chest, was shot during a shootout with KKB in Kiwirok.
The victim and his colleagues who are members of the Cartenz Peace Task Force are carrying out security for the arrival of a Police helicopter that will arrive in Kiwirok carrying logistics.
However, at around 08.30 WIT, suddenly KKB, which is the group led by Lamek Tablo, shot at the members, resulting in a shootout that hit the victim, Bharada Resi, explained Cahyo via his cell phone.
He added that Lamek's group was in the vicinity of Kiwirok and earlier Monday (17/1) Bharatu Bachtiar was shot.
The evacuation of the victims took place safely after his party received assistance from Infantry Battalion PR/431 who is a member of the RI-Papua New Guinea (PNG) border security and works in the area, explained AKBP Cahyo Sukarnito.
Kiwirok is one of the areas in the Bintang Mountains Regency which also borders Papua New Guinea.
