Pertamina says fuel distribution after the Jayapura flood is normal

PT Pertamina (Persero) Regional Papua-Maluku stated that the distribution of fuel oil (BBM) and LPG after the flood in surrounding Jayapura had run normally.

Unit Manager for Communication, Relations and CSR of Pertamina Regional Papua-Maluku Edi Mangun told Antara in Jayapura, Friday, saying that distribution for the City and Regency of Jayapura is still going well.

"Thank God the distribution was smooth and on time," he said.

According to Edi, Pertamina's tanker cars can still pass through the road to Sentani, although on Friday (7/1) morning, it was reported that landslides had occurred in several places, one of which was in front of the Suni Sentani Hotel.

"So that the distribution of fuel for the Sentani area is not affected," he said.

He also ensured that the fuel terminal infrastructure in Jayapura and Sentani would not be disrupted so that the distribution and availability of fuel would still run normally.

"We hope that the public will not worry because the availability and distribution of fuel in Jayapura City and Regency is safe and smooth," he said.

Edi added that his party is also concerned about the disaster experienced by the residents of the City and Regency of Jayapura, who were affected by floods due to heavy rains from Thursday (6/1) night to Friday (7/1) morning.

Previously, flooding caused by heavy rains that fell since Thursday (6/1) night had claimed seven lives and forced at least 160 families to evacuate in Jayapura City, Papua.

Manager of the Disaster Management Operations Control Center of the Papua Province Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Jonathan Koirewoa said the floods had left seven people dead and six people injured.

According to him, floods and landslides also forced at least 160 families, including 80 children and eight toddlers, to evacuate to Gurabesi Village, South Jayapura District.

"Not only the South Jayapura District was affected, North Jayapura, Heram, Abepura, and Muaratami were also hit by floods," he said.

BPBD is still recording the impact of flooding in these areas. "We still need logistical support, equipment, and personnel," Jonathan said.

He said that the flood caused residents' settlements, a number of public facilities, the Marthen Indey Hospital, and the Jayapura Dok II Governor's Office complex to be inundated. "The water level is about 150 to 200 cm," he said.
