4 FACTS Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri Bans Pursuit of Papuan KKB: Use Different Strategy and Give Message to Brimob

The following summarizes the facts regarding the order of the Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri which prohibits the pursuit of the Papuan KKB.

Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri's order was indeed quite a public spotlight.

The reason is that the Papuan Police Chief was previously quite diligent in enforcing the law against the terror acts of the Papuan KKB.

But this time Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri used a different strategy, namely setting parameters in the surrounding cities so that the Papuan KKB action did not spread.

In addition, Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri also encouraged regional heads to actively communicate with the separatists.

Here's a complete summary of the facts.

1. Have a new strategy

Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri asked his men not to pursue the Papuan KKB even though they had injured two people in Puncak Regency.

Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri has prepared another agenda for handling Papuan KKB.

This was revealed by Mathius in response to the incident of the Papuan KKB attack that recently injured an Indonesian Air Force soldier and civilians.

The two people are members of the Indonesian Air Force's Kopasgat Praka Fermansyah (29) and a worker at PT MTT on behalf of Glen Sumampaw (30).

Then, the KKB action continued on Sunday (20/2/2022), shooting and burning a number of houses belonging to local residents.

Meanwhile, the security forces claimed that one of the KKB members, Kasar Kulua, was killed in the gun battle.

Related to this, Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri has another strategy.

"We have decided that the areas targeted by armed criminals should be prioritized by the regional government in handling," said Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Mathias D Fakhiri, Tuesday (22/2/2022) in Jayapura.

He said that the incident in Puncak Regency, as the Regional Police Chief, had actively communicated with the regent to control the community.

"We remind you that there will be no more pursuit, we will play with the parameters of the city of Ilaga, so that we ensure that the disturbance will not reach the city again," he said.

2. Ask the local government to actively communicate with the Papuan KKB

Another reason that his party did not go after the group labeled as terrorists was none other than the Cartenz Peace Operation.

The aim is to prioritize prevention efforts in order to overcome the situation in Puncak Regency.

Therefore, he asked the Regent of Puncak to be more active in communicating with the Papuan KKB.

Fakhiri said, until now, his party considers the conditions in Puncak Regency after the attack on last weekend are still under control.

"If the escalation escalates, in my opinion as the Regional Police Chief, not the Resort Police Chief or others, I will decide how to strengthen the power to carry out measurable law enforcement in Ilaga and we see that it is still sloping," he said.

3. Message the new Mobile Brigade

Shortly after, the Papuan Police Chief gave a briefing to the Brimob capacity building training participants, Thursday (24/02).

This activity was attended by the NCO and the new enlisted personnel of the Papua Police Mobile Brigade in 2022 which took place at the Koya Koso Volleyball Indoor Gymnasium, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City, Papua Province.

On that occasion, Inspector General of Police Mathius D. Fakhiri, in his direction, said that he was extremely proud to have a new member.

With all confidence, I hope that the Brimob Polda Papua will be at the forefront and best in handling all problems.

“You have to be proud of yourself, show that you are the best and be an example to other members out there.

You are here to be servants of the community and your own brothers and sisters in Papua," said the Papuan Police Chief, launching from tribratanews.papua.polri.go.id.

"You are not educated here to be an engine of violence in Papua, but you are educated to be able to serve the Papuan people.

The training here is carried out to serve as the basis for the formation of services for the people in Papua," he continued.

“I ask Dansat, Danyon, Danki and Danru not to stop giving training so that our soldiers can be equipped with the basic basics of Brimob which is a characteristic of Papua.

I hope that the Papuan Brimob personnel will continue to increase in the following year to 2,000 people," said the Papuan Police Chief.

The Papuan Police Chief thanked the Brimob Dansat, who was always at the scene of an incident in Papua.

He hoped that this could be transmitted to the next generation of Brimob Dansat.

“Papua Police HR data shows that as many as 97% here want to join Brimob because of their own will, this needs to be appreciated.

And for the Mako Pas Brimob III in Eastern Indonesia, which will later be built in Mimika, we pray that it can be realized," explained the Papuan Police Chief.

3. Ask to prepare 2 companies of troops

On the same occasion, the Papuan Police Chief requested that from the Brimob members, only 2 special companies be prepared for schooling.

As the front line in handling Papuan KKB.
