Ministry of Religion Appreciates LKKI Held Papua Program in the Heart

The Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) provides support and appreciation for the planned implementation of the Papua in the Heart program by the Religious Consultative Body (Bamag) of the Indonesian Christian Religious Institute (LKKI).

This appreciation was conveyed by the Deputy Minister of Religion, Zainut Tauhid Sa'adi, when welcoming the visit of Bamag LKKI, Thursday (10/3/22).

The visit was attended by the Bamag LKKI management consisting of pastors from various regions as well as church organizations in Indonesia. Also present were the Acting Director General of Christian Guidance, Pontus Sitorus, along with members of the Ministry of Religion.

In an official broadcast released by the Ministry of Religion, General Chairperson of the LKKI Bamag Governing Body, Agus Susanto, said that the "Papua in the Heart" program is expected to build relationships with international churches in building a positive perception of Papua in the international community.

"We ask for direction from the Ministry of Religion to minimize conflicts and touch points in the implementation of these religious activities," Agus explained.

The Deputy Minister of Religion also thinks that the "Papua in the Heart" program needs to be held to strengthen cooperation with various parties, both churches and other religions.

The Deputy Minister of Religion also explained that the Ministry of Religion continues to encourage the "Religious Moderation" program so that all religious people in Indonesia can live in harmony amidst various interpretations and religions.

"We must live in tolerance. Don't force our understanding on others. Please also support the religious moderation program because this program is for all religions, not just certain religions," explained the Deputy Minister of Religion.

With a similar program name, the Ministry of Religion also has the "We Love Papua" program which aims to provide educational scholarships for Papuan children. "We express our appreciation, appreciation, and gratitude for Bamag LKKI's visit to the Ministry of Religion," concluded the Deputy Minister of Religion.
