Soon Papua Central Highlands Province Will Be Legalized

In the not too distant future, the Central Highlands Papua Province will be ratified. This was revealed after the Chairperson of the Association of Papuan Central Highlands Regents (ABPTP) Befa Yigibalom SE. M.Si met with the chairman of the Working Committee for the Draft Bill of the Central Highlands Papua Province, Willi Aditia. The visit was also attended by Regent Yahukimo Didimus Yahuli at the Indonesian Parliament Building, Wednesday (9/3).

“Today, I and several association regents, especially the regent Yahukimo, we met with the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia regarding the question of legislation or the development of the Draft Law on the Expansion of Provinces, especially the Province of Papua in the Central Mountains. From the results of our monitoring, it will soon be legalized. On the 15th there will be a plenary session and there will be trials in the Indonesian House of Representatives and that in this year the real province will be defined as the Central Mountains Province of Papua, which will be born with other Papua Provinces," said Befa who is also the Regent of Lanny Jaya to Cenderawasih Pos, Wednesday (9/3).

In this regard, all intellectuals in Papua, especially in the Central Highlands of Papua, are expected to close ranks and pick up the Papua Province of Central Mountains. As for the pros and cons, according to him, it is okay, but it must be studied as well as possible and reflect on it. Because the Central Mountains Papua Province is present because the central government does provide it so that the state cannot be dictated for too long.
 
"Avoid any negative thoughts and with good thoughts this country of love for whatever purpose it is, as good citizens, intellectuals must welcome them," he said.

He also ensures that the province is not managed by political elites such as the regent whose term of office has expired. The presence of a new province must be seen from a broader framework. Therefore, you should not think narrowly, suspect each other or make scapegoats and so on. However, it must be seen with a good eye that the central government provides it for the development and welfare of the Papuan people.
