TABI Community and Youth Consistently Support New Newborn Expansion

The head of the Tabi Bersatu Youth, Alberth Yohanes Manggo, said that if the discourse on the New Autonomous Region or the New Autonomous Region of Papua Province was divided into several regions, it would continue to be pushed until it materialized.

Because the pros and cons of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) of Papua Province continue to this day. Unlike some La Pago traditional areas which reject the new autonomous regions, the people in the Tabi customary area, which is the forerunner to the center of government in Papua (Papua and West Papua), fully support the expansion of Papua Province.

This is based on several factors, the first is the geographical condition of Papua which is very broad. Then, the unemployment rate is still considered quite a lot, the welfare of the people is also not evenly distributed, education and health are also still the reasons.

On this basis, the struggle for expansion has been encouraged by the Association of Regents and Mayors of All Tabi Lands and traditional leaders in the Tabi customary area since several years ago and in the era of President Joko Widodo's administration, the expansion being fought for has been approved by the President.

These pros and cons are commonplace, but the struggle of indigenous peoples in the Tabi customary area to fight for the birthright over their own territory certainly requires extra struggle.

So, on this matter, the Tabi Bersatu Youth then initiated a hearing meeting (RDP) with leaders in the Tabi customary area, which included traditional leaders, religious leaders, community leaders, youth leaders and women leaders, as well as members of the Papuan MRP and DPR from customary areas. Tabi.

The hearing which was held to unite these perceptions was held at the Puspenka Hall, Hawaii, Sentani City, Sentani District, Jayapura Regency, Saturday, March 19, 2022 in the afternoon.

"We from the Tabi Youth will stand in front of guarding what has been agreed with the Association of Regents and Mayors throughout Tabi Land for expansion. We will continue to push this until the expansion is realized," said Alberth firmly.

He said the government's policy of division was the best solution to alleviating the various problems that occurred. Starting from welfare, infrastructure, education and health, as well as other sectors where inequality occurs.

"We saw our parents, our brothers and sisters in the villages whose roads have not been penetrated and there are gaps and isolated economic downturns. Well, this is what we need to save. There is no other way, because with the expansion the problem is there will be resolved," he said.

According to Alberth, the central government, which has approved the plan to expand the territory in Papua Province, should not be wasted. The government has answered the aspirations of the people who have been fighting for it for a long time.

"This is an opportunity that should not be wasted, so go ahead, friends in Laa Pago and Mee Pago refuse, go ahead. But we at Tabi support what has been conveyed by the Tabi Regional Heads Association. realized," said Alberth at the end of the interview.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Tabi Bangkit Community Forum, Pdt. Alberth Yoku, S.Th, admitted that the indigenous Tabi community fully supports the regional expansion program in Papua by the government.

"Our firmness is that the Tabi indigenous people support all things that have been officially announced by the state that have been promulgated. Which means, they have legal certainty. So we have to fully support them, what kind of model we will talk about later," he explained.

It is said, Tabi land is the center of education and so on in Papua, people from all over the region come to Tabi, so devote themselves to the people in their hometown when the study is completed.

"When it's finished, then build the area. Let the village progress, practice the knowledge and expertise that has been obtained from Tabi to their respective villages. Tabi is with us, let us build our own country," he said.

It is said, understanding regional expansion should not only be seen from the political side. However, the expansion is part of the equitable distribution of development and so on.

"Let's accept with joy this expansion, let's build our village. If the government has decided there is a state policy, there are various possible positions such as governor of the legislature, there is an executive, there is a budget and there are others. So please come back so we can build our villages, " said the former chairman of the GKI Synod in Papua.

He said again, regional expansion is important so that there is no accumulation of human resources (HR) as is happening in Tabi today.

The distribution of human resources can be done through expansion, so that there are open job opportunities. He also said that those who still reject DOB need to be given an understanding.

"Yes, maybe only a few parties still refuse, and understanding needs to be given. Don't carry other political interests. The expansion is done, go back to the village and build their own villages," concluded the man who is also the Chair of the Jayapura Regency FKUB.
