The Regent of Keerom, Piter Gusbager Strengthens the Green Economy Movement and Helps MSMEs Together with 214 Food Packages




Keerom Regent, Piter Gusbager, SHut, MUP, together with the Director of Regional Development Harmonization (Kemendes PDTT), Dr. Dwi Rudi Hartoyo, MS symbolically handed over and planted cocoa seeds in Skanto Village, Skanto District on Sunday, March 20, 2022.

A total of 5 heads of farmer groups received the assistance of cocoa seeds which were symbolically handed over by Piter Gusbager, SHut, MUP, (Keerom Regent), Dr. Dwi Rudi Hartoyo, MS (Director of Kemendes PDTT), Trisiswanda Indra N, SPT (Keerom Secretary), Kompol Nur Bhakti (Keerom Deputy Police Chief) and Ny. Angela TH Frank Gusbager, ST (Chairman of TP-PKK Keerom).
 
This is part of the 20 thousand cocoa seeds that will be given to cocoa farmers in several villages in the Skanto District. These cacao seeds are provided through the UK government's GEG or Green Economic Growth program and the Ministry of Village PDTT represents the Indonesian government.

Director of Regional Development Harmonization, Dr. Dwi Rudi Hartoyo, MS, on that occasion explained that the current GEG program was a follow-up to the visit of the Minister of Villages and PDTT some time ago to Keerom.
 
"At that time, the minister's visit did not take long, almost simultaneously with the implementation of the PON, and seeing the condition of Keerom, I was ordered through the GEG program or the green economy movement to stimulate the economy in the villages which we hope to have superior commodities, which then it was decided to be cocoa and handed over to several villages in Skanto," he said.
 
Meanwhile, the Regent of Keerom, Piter Gusbager, SHut, MUP, on the next occasion, expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the choice of Keerom to receive assistance for Cocoa seeds in the Green Economic Growth program.

"I hope that the farmers who receive these cacao seeds can plant and care for them until they are harvested so that they can move the village economy as the government hopes. If there are problems or difficulties later, the district government will appoint a companion and the regent will issue a decree," he said.
 
On that occasion, the Regent also handed over MSME assistance to business groups in the Skanto village in order to stimulate the village economy. It was continued with the delivery of food packages for all 214 families there. The basic food packages consist of rice, sugar, tea, eggs, instant noodles, and others.
 
After the handover of aid, the regent, accompanied by his mother and other officials, planted cacao seeds, followed by a group photo and friendly atmosphere. Also present at this event were the Head of the Skanto District, community and traditional leaders of the Skanto District and other invited guests.
