Fulfilling Political Promises, Merauke Regent Distributes 5000 Android Cellphones

The Regent of Merauke, Romanus Mbaraka and Deputy Regent H. Riduwan handed over 500 units of Android cellphones to representatives of grade 6 elementary, junior high and high school students.

The symbolic handover was carried out at the Merauke State Building, Wednesday (06/44/2022) and was carried out in stages from a total of 5000 mobile phones which would later be distributed.

This is a fulfillment of political promises at the beginning of the campaign to the community, especially for underprivileged students. The condition is that there must be an official statement from the school that the students who will receive HP assistance are really not capable.

"The purpose of distributing these cellphones is that with the digitalization learning process, students are facilitated. And this is given to those who can't afford it, we hope this cellphone will support them," said Romanus.

Previously, said Romanus, he was encouraged when he met one of the native Papuan students sitting on the side of the road looking for a signal by borrowing a neighbor's cellphone. From there, the idea for a mobile phone assistance program emerged to support student learning.

"So that no one feels inferior anymore, by having a cellphone, children can be confident to study together," continued Romanus.

Recipient students are reminded to use cellphones for studying, not for family or parents. While inviting the younger generation of beneficiaries to study hard, have achievements and later can have a good future.

“You have to be smarter than the Regent. Study well, have good grades, so that you can be like the Regent," said Romanus Mbaraka.

On the same occasion, the Deputy Regent, H. Ridwan gave a message to children who received HP assistance, to make the best use of it for the sake of education.
