Melanesian Family Papua Borneo East Kalimantan Support Expansion

Melanesian Papua Borneo in East Kalimantan (Kaltim) expressed support for the expansion of new autonomous regions (DOB). The support was conveyed through a short video, which circulated on Saturday, April 2, 2022.

In the short 13.54 second video, the Papuan people who are also students from Papua Melanesian in Samarinda, East Kalimantan agree to the expansion of the New Autonomous Region (DOB).

In addition to students, the people representing the Melanesian Family Association of Papua Borneo in East Kalimantan also expressed their full support for peace in the land of Papua, Indonesia.

The chairman of the East Kalimantan Borneo Melanesian Association, Sarmadan Agasar, said the regional expansion or new autonomous region was an effort to help and develop the land of Papua.

In particular, helping accelerate the improvement of human resources in Papua and also accelerating infrastructure development in Papua.

"We fully support the New Autonomous Region (DOB) so that the government's arm can reach the lowest levels of society so that they can feel the government's presence in their midst," said Sarmadan in Samarinda March 31, 2022.

Sarmadan hopes that the expansion process will quickly be taken seriously by the Central Government. Sarmadan also believes that with the expansion, the job opportunities for the Papuan people are very large.

"We are native Papuans and it is also easy to get a decent job with each of the disciplines that have been presented in lecture today," said Sarmadan.

The hope, Sarmadan continued, is that if the division takes place, it will prioritize indigenous Papuans who have an established knowledge base.

"We want that later those sitting in parliaments are really native Papuans, so that we Papuans ourselves are the masters in our own country," said Sarmadan.
