TSE Group Focuses on 5 Pillars of Papuan Community Development
Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group focuses on the development of the Papuan community, especially in its operational areas in Boven Digoel Regency and Merauke Regency. Through Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) activities, the company strives to contribute socially to stakeholders and the wider community to improve welfare and have a positive impact on the environment.
Corporate Social Contributions (CSC) Manage TSE Group, Setiyono, explained that the CSC activities carried out by the TSE Group (PT Tunas Sawa Erma, PT Berkat Cipta Abadi, and PT Dongin Prabhawa) were based on 5 main pillars, namely education, health, economy, environment and infrastructure.
"CSC's activities are in line with the company's philosophy to build harmonious, beneficial and sustainable relationships with the community and stakeholders for progress and prosperity," said Setiyono at the Break Fasting with Media organized by the TSE Group, Wednesday (27 April 2022).
In the field of education, the company focuses on improving the quality of education. In 2021 the TSE Group will provide educational infrastructure support by distributing assistance to repair the dormitory for the hamlet masters who study in Boven Digoel, assisting with materials for the construction of three elementary schools and donating five school buses as a means to take students to or from home. from school.
TSE Group's assistance is not only targeted at educational facilities and infrastructure. To encourage the enthusiasm of the teachers in teaching and learning activities (KBM), the TSE Group provides honorarium and food supplies for dozens of teachers at the elementary to high school level. TSE Group also provides scholarships for the children of the dusun and orphans as an effort to distribute education and support the implementation of SEKAMI (Indonesian Missionary Youth Pontifical Union).
In addition, together with the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS) TSE Group provides scholarships for Papuan Orang Asli (OAP) to study at the Yogyakarta Stiper Agricultural Institute (Instiper) and the Citra Widya Edukasi Oil Palm Polytechnic (CWE) in Cibitung, Java. West. It is hoped that this advanced level of education will be able to increase the knowledge of OAPs so that later they can improve their lives in their homeland.
In the field of public health, Setiyono explained that the company manages 4 health clinics. One of the largest is Asiki Clinic in Jair District, Boven Digoel Regency, Indonesia's easternmost area which is directly adjacent to Papua New Guinea. Inaugurated in September 2017, Asiki Clinic has modern facilities supported by state-of-the-art equipment. The clinic, which was built and managed through the CSC program, provides free health care services for indigenous Papuans and is equipped with BPJS Health facilities.
Asiki Clinic provides health services through general polyclinics, dental clinics, laboratories, health education and nutrition improvement. Doctors are routinely deployed for social service activities for health education by visiting the community directly from village to village. TSE Group is also ready to bear the costs if there are people whose treatment cannot be handled at the Asiki Clinic. So for its dedication, the Asiki Clinic in 2019 was awarded the best clinic at the national level as a First Level Health Facility (FTKP) by BPJS Health.
In the health sector, TSE Group is also actively supporting government programs such as expanding the Covid-19 vaccination, distributing masks, disinfectants, providing additional food and immunization as well as eradicating malaria by fogging and disinfecting mosquito nets. TSE Group also distributed material assistance for the construction of water wells at SDN Kampung Naga.
In order to support the regional economy, Setiyomo said the contribution in the economic sector was shown by the TSE Group by distributing basic food ingredients (BAMA) to the community. During the pandemic, the company directly visited the houses of the beneficiaries, even to the people who lived in huts in the middle of the forest.
Not only that, TSE Group also provides assistance that is closely related to community empowerment, such as distributing seeds of vegetables, fruits and livestock such as ducks, chickens, and fish as well as donating materials for the construction of cages and ponds. Good communication with the local community is also established by the company through joint activities that are carried out regularly every month.
Modern retail S-marts have also been built in the interior of Papua, namely in Nakias Village and Selil Village, Merauke Regency to make it easier for the surrounding community and TSE Group employees to get their daily needs at prices below the standard in the interior of Papua. S-Mart, which is one of the CSC programs, does not pursue profit. That's why S-Mart is able to sell goods at lower prices.
In the environmental sector, TSE Group routinely organizes river water cleaning actions. And also actively campaigning and educating the public to preserve the flora and fauna as well as the cleanliness of the rivers around the settlements, one of which is by installing warning boards.
In the warning board, the company conveys the message that river water flow is an area that must be free of garbage and waste. This protection needs to be continued for the sake of the biodiversity that lives in and around the river.
Talking about conservation is incomplete without tree planting activities. For example in Kampung Naga, Jair District, Merauke Regency, in the area of the Bog Dagon Mandiri Cooperative (BDM). There the company planted 500 tree seedlings consisting of durian and orange tree seedlings in an area of 10 hectares.
Regarding infrastructure development, Setiyono said, bridges are strategic needs for the community, not only as a connecting infrastructure between communities but also as a supporter of increasing the wheels of the economy. In Ujung Kia Village, Ki District, Boven Digoel Regency, the Kali Mi Bridge, which is one of the vital access roads for the local community, is in a fragile condition that endangers people who pass through it.
TSE Group reconstructed the 200 meter long bridge so that finally it could not only be passed by motorcycles, but now can be passed by four-wheeled vehicles and even larger vehicles.
TSE Group also carried out infrastructure improvements in the form of religious facilities. For example in Merauke, TSE Group renovated the seminar room of the Merauke archdiocese, construction and renovation of houses and public facilities, repairing village electricity, building roads and docks. Not to forget TSE Group distributed religious and cultural aid and BAMA (Food Aid).
