Customary Chief Anim Ha Supports the Establishment of a New Province in Papua

The Head of Anim Ha in Merauke Regency, Mappi Regency, Boven Digoel Regency, and Asmat Regency, Papua Province, Paskalis Imadawa supports new autonomous regions (DOB) in Papua Province. He said the reason for supporting the formation of the South Papua Province was in the hope that there would be justice in equitable development.

According to Paskalis, the struggle to realize the formation of the South Papua New Guinea has come a long way and there are no words to reconsider. He claimed, most of the Papuan people wanted to establish a new new autonomous region as soon as possible in the easternmost province of Indonesia.

"In terms of human resources, especially education, those who enjoy special autonomy funds education, education abroad has a 1,000 doctoral program, which was announced by the governor. But those who enter are children from the mountains, children around Jayapura and children from Sorong," said Paskalis.

He said that the development and improvement of the quality of education in the southern region of Papua had not been touched at all. Paskalis wants DOB to be executed as soon as possible. He also doesn't care about the rejection from the people in the Central Papua region.

"Let them reject it but we don't. So don't be generalized by high-ranking officials of the Republic of Indonesia, Papuans reject the new autonomous regions. We fully support the new autonomous regions for equitable development," said Paskalis.

According to Paskalis, with the presence of a new province, the development cake can be more evenly distributed. "As long as we don't become a province, throughout history, southern Papuans will never be governors and chairmen of the Papuan DPR. Take note of that."
