Papuan Traditional Leaders Reject Demo in Tabi Area

Indigenous Papuan leader from the Tabi Region, Yanto Eluay, spoke about the call for simultaneous action regarding the planned mass demonstration from a community group calling itself the Papuan People's Petition (PRP) which rejected or revoked the Special Autonomy (Otsus) for Papua Volume II and rejected the plan to establish Papua New Guinea. This Tabi customary leader said that he firmly rejected the form of the demonstration that will be held on May 10, 2022, especially that the demonstration could cause inconvenience to the people living in the Tabi customary area.
 
"Regarding the call or appeal issued by the Papuan People's Petition (PRP) which will carry out a demonstration, to demand the revocation of Otsus Volume II and the rejection of the formation of new autonomous regions in Papua. Therefore, we appeal not to do it, so as not to cause inconvenience to the people in the Tabi customary area, especially in Sentani City and Jayapura City," said Ondofolo Kampung Sereh Yanto Eluay, Saturday, May 7, 2022.

Yanto Eluay asked community groups and students who will be carrying out the demonstration activity, not to take action to raise mass, because it has the potential to disturb the security and security of the community.
 
"As one of the traditional leaders in the Tabi area of the Sentani Tribe, we hope that the demonstration plan will not be implemented in our customary area, especially in Sentani City," requested Yanto Eluay.

According to Ondo Yanto as he is familiarly called, the demonstration carried out by mobilizing the masses will certainly disturb the public interest as well as the security and social order.
 
“We are responsible for maintaining security and order in our customary territory, especially in Jayapura Regency. For that, we firmly reject and no more demonstrations of any kind will be carried out on our customary territory," said Ondofolo Besar in the Tabi Traditional Territory.
 
This charismatic figure from the Sentani Tribe hopes that traditional leaders in the Tabi area, both in the Jayapura City area, can convey the same thing so that they call on no more demonstrations to be carried out in the Tabi traditional area.

"We, the Tabi indigenous people, have supported Otsus Papua Volume 2 and support the plan to form a new autonomous region in Papua," concluded Yanto Eluay, who is also the General Chair of the Presidium of the Putra and Putri Pejuang Pepera (P5) Papua Province.
