Asmat Local Government Supports Accelerated Expansion of South Papua Province, Holds Grand Meeting with All Elements of Society

The Asmat Regency Government, expressed its stance to fully support the acceleration of the expansion of the South Papua Province by holding a Grand Meeting with all elements of society in Asmat Regency.

The meeting as by Asmat Regent Elisa Kambu was to absorb aspirations as well as to express a shared attitude and determination, in order to support the acceleration of the expansion of the South Papua Province.

"Our meeting today is aimed at hearing the aspirations of the Asmat community regarding support for the formation and acceleration of the expansion of the South Papua Province," said Elisa.

Elisa also stated that all those present needed to provide their opinions and responses regarding the purpose of accelerating the expansion of the South Papua province, so that the team later submitted it to Commission II of the DPR RI, which is planned to be present in Merauke in the near future.

"So today's Grand Meeting and all our discussions are important to support the acceleration of the expansion of the South Papua province, and we will forward the results to Commission II of the DPRI in Merauke Regency," explained the Regent of Asmat 2 this period.

In addition, Regent Elisa is also flexible and democratic with public opinion. Whatever the opinion of the community, it will still appreciate it. However, he reminded that the expansion of the province of South Papua is the will of the collective community in South Papua and not merely the wish of the political elite.
 
"For those who do not support the establishment of the South Papua Province, this is an opportunity to convey so that we can hear together, so that there is no impression that the formation of the South Papua Province is only in the interests of elite groups," he added.
 
The meeting which was held in the Wiyata Mandala Hall of the Asmat Regency Education Office, Tuesday (21/6/2022) was attended by representatives from all elements of society, including religious leaders, traditional leaders, women leaders, youth leaders, mass organizations and associations in Asmat Regency. , TNI-POLRI ranks, as well as Forkompinda Asmat Regency.
 
The results of this meeting stated that all agreed to provide full support for the accelerated formation of the Province of South Papua. And representatives from the Asmat district will also be present to convey this aspiration to Commission II of the DPRI on Thursday 24 June 2022 in Merauke along with three other regencies in the southern region of Papua, namely Merauke, Mappi and Boven Digoel.
