Case of Alleged Corruption in Mamtem, DAW Saireri: We Support KPK's Performance

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has again received support from indigenous Papuans to investigate cases of alleged bribery and gratification within the Central Mamberamo District Government.

This time the support came from the traditional community leaders of the Saireri region, which is one part of the five traditional territories in Papua
 
"We support and appreciate the performance of the KPK for the alleged corruption case in Central Mamberamo. We ask that this investigation be carried out honestly and transparently," said Saireri Regional Customary Council (DAW) chairman Sopater Ayomi in a short video obtained by this daily, Monday (13/6/2022).

It is known that the Saireri customary territory covers five districts; Yapen, Biak, Supiori, Waropen and Nabire Islands.

Sopater appealed to the indigenous people of the Saireri region not to get involved in various provocative issues, regarding allegations of corruption in Central Mamberamo.

"Indigenous people in the Saireri area should respect all legal processes that are currently being carried out in Central Mamberamo and must support the legal process," he urged.

Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted searches at three locations in Papua related to allegations of bribery and gratification involving a number of parties within the Central Mamberamo Regency Government.

KPK investigators found records of cash flows when they searched a residence in Wamena, Jaya Wijaya Regency, Thursday (9/6/2022).

The search was related to the implementation of various projects of the Central Mamberamo Regency Government.

"The intended location is the residence of the party related to this case," said Acting KPK Spokesperson Ali Fikri, in a press release, Friday (10/6/2022).

"The investigative team found and secured various project documents and records of the flow of a sum of money allegedly flowing to parties related to this case," he said.

Based on the findings of this evidence, said Ali, the investigative team will conduct analysis and confiscation to complete the case file for the bribery and gratification case.
