The Regent of Intan Jaya, Natalis Tabuni, once again expressed his support for the New Autonomous Region (DOB), and chose Nabire to be the capital of the province of central Papua.

This statement was conveyed by the Regent of Intan Jaya Natalis Tabuni to the media crew at a hotel in Jayapaura, Wednesday 15 June 2022.
 
Regent diamond jaya explained “In the Mepago area, central Papua, my attitude has not changed, namely to support the new autonomous regions. Because the formation of a new area will accelerate development, vulnerable to closer community control, economic improvement, and infrastructure development, he explained.

Natalis Tabuni further explained, currently there are pros and cons among the community, especially in the Central Papua region, regarding the determination of the provincial capital, there are still mutual claims for Nabire and Timika to become the provincial capital. The one who has the authority to determine the provincial capital is the center.

Natalis also hopes that in a study with UGM the division team has determined that the provincial capital should be in Mimika and two in Nabire. So about the provincial capital, we'll just give it back, let the center decide,'' he said.
 
Meanwhile, the Regent of Intan Jaya, Natalis Tabuni, when asking for comments on the pros and cons of the capital city of Central Papua province, I would prefer Nabire, because Nabire is the oldest city, there have been several regencies and from the districts that have been expanded, they have expanded again. 6 districts.

Therefore, Nabire should be the capital of the province of Central Papua. So that we can accelerate development there, while Timika Regency, without being the provincial capital, can progress because Timika is an industrial city.
