Papua Provincial Government expects GCF to formulate forest conservation and protection
The Provincial Government of Papua hopes that through the regional meeting of the Governor's Climate and Forest Task Force (GCF) Annual Meeting, it can produce a formulation of forest conservation and protection in Cenderawasih Earth.
Assistant for the Economy and People's Welfare of the Papua Provincial Secretariat Muhammad Musa'ad in Jayapura, Wednesday, said that his party remains committed to protecting the world's tropical forests, especially in Papua.
"With the meeting to consolidate and ensure how we are committed to preserving environmental forests and tropical forests around us," he said.
According to Musa'ad, his party also hopes that through the meeting there will be some kind of compensation that will be obtained by the areas guarding the forest so that the community will receive life insurance.
"In Papua there are still many people who live in the forest, for that we hope this will become one of the issues that must be fought internally," he said.
He explained that his party also hopes that Papua Province can become a pioneer who contributes to protecting forests and provides life insurance for people who are involved in protecting tropical forests.
"Through the central government, we hope this will be able to equalize views because not only Indonesia but 37 countries and provinces in the world must coordinate," he said again.
He added that all of them have the same commitment to protect tropical forests because it has been seen that many natural phenomena have occurred, one of which is deforestation.
