Jayapura government says KMAN is the strength of the nation

The Jayapura Regency Government, Papua Province said that the Congress of Indigenous Peoples of the Archipelago (KMAN) is the strength of the nation because the congress participants will be invited to live in the villages of residents in that area.

"That's what's special about the implementation of KMAN, the goal is clear that participants can immediately feel the warmth and friendliness of the community and this is a manifestation of the strength of the nation," said the head of the Jayapura Regency Communications and Information Office (Kominfo) Gustaf Griapon in a press release in Jayapura, Saturday.

According to Gustaf, the congress is a meeting place between indigenous peoples throughout Indonesia who will discuss various issues including environmental conservation.

"This will be a momentum in itself that will show the wealth and strength of the indigenous people of the archipelago to be involved in development, while the Lake Sentani festival will certainly encourage cultural and tourism progress in Papua," he said.

He explained that the national cultural festival, namely the VI KMAN, Danau Sentani Festival and the IXth Anniversary of the awakening of the indigenous peoples of Jayapura Regency, was a big momentum on a national and even international scale because of the presence of several indigenous peoples of the world.

"Because the implementation of KMAN, which is planned to be held on October 24-30, 2022 will be attended by 5,000 participants including indigenous people from abroad," he said again.

He added that the success of organizing PON XX and then Peparnas XVI in Papua has proven that Papua can hold national events well.

"So we hope that the three national agendas that will take place can run and we hope that the Papuan people support and make this cultural festival a success," he said.

Just to note, the KMAN committee has held a meeting with the Director of Information, Political Communication, Law and Security, Directorate General of Information and Public Communication (IKP), Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo), Bambang Gunawan in Jakarta on Friday (17/6).
