Determination of 3 Papua New Guinea Will Close the Gap for Separatist Groups

The government and the DPR have officially established 3 New Autonomous Regions (DOB) in Papua, covering South Papua, Central Papua and the Mountains. Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI Hidayat Nur Wahid hopes that the 3 new autonomous regions can be filled by representatives of the people who clearly side with the Papuan people within the scope of the Republic of Indonesia.

The hope is that the presence of people's representatives who side with the welfare of the Papuan people can close the gap for separatist groups to separate Papua and the Unitary Republic of Indonesia under the pretext of welfare.

"It is better to be able to bring in representatives of the people who really sided with Papua in the context of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, to then build Papua for the welfare of Papua so that there is no longer any gap for the presence of separatists who may be lured under the pretext of welfare," said Hidayat at the PKS DPP Office, Pasar Minggu. , South Jakarta, Saturday (2/7/2022).

Regarding the impact of the formation of new autonomous regions with the implementation of the General Election and Regional Head Elections, the Deputy Chair of the PKS Syuro Council said it would definitely be discussed by Commission II of the DPR RI. However, Hidayat hopes that the presence of 3 new government regions in Papua can improve the implementation of the General Election on Cenderawasih Earth.

"That in Commission II, yes, it should be discussed, but of course the hope is that elections in Papua always have many things which must then always be given more attention and improvements must always be made," he said.
