DPRD Jayawijaya invites residents to accept DOB

The Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) of Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Province, invites residents to accept the province's new autonomous regions (DOB). The chairman of the Jayawijaya DPRD, Matias Tabuni, when he was in Wamena, Monday, said that the new autonomous regions had been decided so that residents had to accept them. There are three new provinces that have been ratified as new autonomous regions, namely South Papua Province, Central Highlands Papua Province, and Central Papua Province.

"For this new autonomous region, it is not our authority in the regions, it is a decision of the central government, so whatever the decision of the central government is, whether we like it or not, whether we like it or not, we will just live with it," he said.

He also invited residents to openly accept Jayawijaya as the capital of Papua Mountains Province. "This includes making Jayawijaya the capital city. We hope that the community, whatever the government's decision, will follow it," he said. The chairman of the Wamena Born Association, Samuel Pigai, invited community elements not to sell land after the district was designated a new autonomous region.

"I invite all elements of society not to sell land, except to the government for the sake of development. There must also be regulations that are regulated or an agreement. If necessary, the land is not sold but contracted to the government so that we are not excluded from our own land," he said. The DOB, he said, would have an impact on the entry of residents from other regencies and would not rule out the possibility of bringing either good or bad influence, so that the people of Jayawijaya must maintain themselves so that they are not provoked by bad influences.

"For younger students who are studying, take advantage of the available time so that once they finish school, they can rebuild their country because human resources are very minimal, for example in several important fields such as health," he said.
