Jayapura City Government Coordination Meeting with Paguyuban, Frans Pekey: Discuss Synergy to Make Port Numbay Peaceful

The Jayapura City Government (Pemkot) held a Coordination Meeting (Rakor) with associations throughout the City of Jayapura, to discuss synergies to create a peaceful Port Numbay earth.
 
In his remarks quoted by Tribun-Papua.com, Thursday (4/8/2022) during the opening of the Coordination Meeting which was held at a hotel in Jayapura City, Papua Province, the Acting Mayor of Jayapura, Frans Pekey, said the background of the Coordination Meeting was held.
 
"We must realize that this city is a heterogeneous city, both from ethnic groups in Papua and other ethnic groups in the archipelago, which are diverse but united as residents of Jayapura City," he explained.

The coordination meeting which was held at one of the hotels in Jayapura City, Frans also conveyed about how to respond to differences in opinions or views on something.
 
"Jayapura City is a city inhabited from various regions, and we should be grateful that the indigenous people of Port Numbay have accepted civilization and accepted us all to be present in the capital city of Papua Province," he said.

He also said that all those who came to Jayapura City had various purposes, there were those who stayed for work, starting a business, education and so on.

"There are those who are able to compete in a healthy manner with the existing developments, but there are also those who have not been able to adapt, that is the consequence of living in this diverse city," he explained.
 
For this reason, through the coordination meeting, the Jayapura City Government together with Forkopimda will continue to synergize with a pluralistic society, through associations.
 
"The goal is to maintain mutual harmonization in filling Jayapura City as a city of services and trade, as well as arts and culture," he said.

During the coordination meeting, the representatives of the association were given the opportunity to submit criticisms, suggestions, and input as well as appreciation for the Jayapura City Government.
 
Representative of the Southeast Sulawesi Harmony Family (KKST) Hamzah expressed his appreciation for the role of Forkopimda which has provided a sense of security and comfort so far.

"Although there were actions that took place some time ago, thankfully they were able to be handled properly," he said.

For your information, the associations that attended the event included the Meepago, Mee, KMB, Saireri, Maybrat Tribal Chiefs, Sukuharjo, Trenggalek, KKST, South Sulawesi, Kemas Buteng, and Ikemal of Jayapura City.
