Strict Actions on the Brutal Action of KST in Papua to Realize Papuan Peace

Strict action is needed to overcome the brutal actions that are often carried out by the Papuan Separatist Terrorist Group (KST). This decisive action on KST Papua will bring about peace for the people of Earth of Cenderawasih.

KST Papua is a group that often spreads terror against civilians and TNI/Polri officers in the Papua region. In carrying out its actions, KKB does not indiscriminately treat its victims. They carried out brutal actions against migrants and the Orang Asli Papua (OAP). The ultimate goal of KST Papua is to separate Papua from the lap of Mother Earth.

KST Papua is also often the mastermind of several crimes against the community, such as attacks on workers, stabbings, shootings, and burning of settlements and schools in several areas of Papua. Even in the last 6 months this violent action from KST Papua has increased and killed 25 people with 17 of them being civilians and 8 others being TNI and Polri officers.

On June 29, KST carried out its brutal action against TNI officers who were on duty in the Bintang Mountains. It is known that KST attacked the TNI post, resulting in a shootout between KST led by Pangkodap XV Ngalum Kupel, Lamek Alepki Taplo and the Kodim Battalion PR 431/SSP Pos Kiwirok Task Force. In this shootout, TNI Prada member Beryl Kholif Al Rohman was reportedly killed. Prada Beryl died when he was shot in the thigh, which caused him to bleed to death.

Papuan Police Chief Inspector General D. Mathius Fakhiri said that apart from taking lives, KST Papua also frequently committed violence with up to 19 victims. This violence often occurs in mountainous areas of Papua such as the districts of Yahukimo, Intan Jaya, Puncak, Paniai, and Puncak Jaya. Attacks also frequently occurred in Nduga Regency, Bintang Mountains, Yalimo, Jayawijaya, and Deiyai Regencies.

Inspector General D. Mathius added that KST is still a terror threat to Papuans. The security forces continue to prioritize the welfare approach for the community so that there will be no security disturbances among the Papuan people. In the future, he hopes that the Regional Government, especially the regents, can appear in front so that the community does not feel awkward to be involved in police activities.

This brutal action by KST Papua seems to be a never ending problem in Papua. Strict action is needed from law enforcement officials to resolve this violence problem. Firm action against KST will create peace for the people in Papua, and will support the implementation of all work programs of the Government of Indonesia for the welfare of Papua.
