KKB Performs Again at Intan Jaya, Burns Sports Building & Attacks Officials

The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) has once again set out on fire by setting fire to the Youth and Sports building in Intan Jaya, Papua. KKB was also involved in gun battles with the police.

Wakasatgas Public Relations Ops Damai Cartenz AKBP Arif Irawan said KKB set fires in Mamba Village, Intan Jaya Regency, at around 10.37 WIT this morning.

"This morning at around 10.30 WIT we received a report of burning by KKB in Mamba Village, Intan Jaya Regency," said Arif Irwan when asked for confirmation by detikcom, Tuesday (16/8/2022).
 
According to Arif, at first there was a thick puff of smoke in the Mamba Village Complex, which was followed by gunshots from the KKB led by Undius Kogoya. Shots reportedly occurred at several points.

These shots occurred around Bajemba Hamlet 2 times, around Bilogai Tower 2 times and around J.2 2 times.

"KKB fired 6 times from the direction of the Bilogai Tower which was then responded by members of the Diamond Police and the Preventive Task Force Post and a gun battle broke out," he said.
 
Arif Irawan said that from the shootout there were no casualties.

"There were no fatalities from this firefight, but KKB set fire to the government office building, namely the Youth and Sports Barracks of Intan Jaya Regency. Currently, joint personnel are still conducting patrols and patrols around Sugapa City," he said.
 
Nevertheless, Arif ensured that the situation in Intan Jaya Regency was relatively safe and conducive. TNI and Polri officers increased security after the attack.

"The situation in Sugapa, Intan Jaya Regency is relatively safe and conducive, joint personnel continue to increase guard and patrol," concluded the Head of the Public Relations Task Force.
