KPK Forced Pick Up Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that it had forcibly picked up Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng.
Previously, Eltinus submitted a pretrial to the South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel) for the Corruption Eradication Commission's determination of a suspect against him. However, the pretrial was rejected.
"That's right (forcibly picked up)," said KPK News Section Head Ali Fikri in a written message to Kompas.com, Wednesday (7/9/2022).
However, Ali has not explained further about the alleged corruption that ensnared Eltinus and how many people were forcibly picked up by the KPK.
The petition for the lawsuit at the South Jakarta District Court also did not clearly state the corruption case involving Eltinus.
The KPK is investigating allegations of corruption in the construction project of the Kingmi Mile 32 Church in Mimika Regency.
Last June, the KPK had summoned the suspect in the case but the suspect did not comply with the investigator's summons.
Based on Tribunnews.com reports, the construction of the Kingmi Mile Church has been running since 2015. This development is a Mimika Regency project.
The project is supported by Mimika's 2015 2016, 2019, and 2021 APBD funds and has cost more than IDR 250 billion.
In 2022, the Mimika Regency Government will also allocate Rp 50 billion for the construction of the Kingmi Church.
Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police Kombes AM Kamal said Eltinus had been secured by KPK investigators. Currently, he is undergoing an examination at the Mako Brimob Polda Papua.
"Our colleagues were asked to help with security and then (Eltinus Omaleng) was secured by KPK colleagues," said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police (Polda), Kombes AM Kamal, in Jayapura, Wednesday (7/9/2022). ).
"He (Eltinus Omaleng) is still being investigated at Brimob," he said.
