Paniai Nawipa Regent: Civil aviation accelerates infrastructure development

The Regent of Paniai, Papua Province, Meki Nawipa said that civil aviation activities in Cenderawasih Earth need to be strengthened in order to accelerate infrastructure development as well as economic performance in the region.

"Through civil flights, basic necessities and building equipment can reach remote villages in Papua," he said on the sidelines of the Coffee Morning implementation of flight security in Papua which took place in Sentani, Jayapura Regency, Papua, Saturday.

According to Meki Nawipa, civil aviation that has been going on for more than 50 years is very helpful in serving the people in the mountainous region of Papua.

"So we give appreciation to civil aviation for its dedication to service to the Papuan people, especially in mountainous areas," he said.

He explained that with the Coffee Morning activity, the implementation of flight security in Papua, which was held by the Indonesian Pilots Association (IPI), in the future, his party hoped that there would be a program prepared by IPI to mitigate and protect flight comfort.

"Of course we (the government) fully support the IPI program to be discussed together in order to take mitigation steps after that to protect so that all public services and operators can operate properly so that pilots are also safe," said the Regent.

He added that his party hopes that IPI can also cooperate with local communities to make residents as agents but also provide information related to the situation and security.

"This is something that maybe we will discuss with IPI as a facilitator so that civil aviation can continue to run because children can go to school, sick people can be served and development can run only through civil aviation," said Meki Nawipa.
