Papua Governor Lukas Enembe Becomes a KPK Suspect!
The coordinator of Papua Governor Lukas Enembe's legal team, Stefanus Roy Rening, said that his client had been named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) related to the bribery case and Rp 1 billion gratuity. Roy then questioned the basis for determining the status of the suspect.
Roy said his client Lukas Enembe has been a suspect at the KPK since September 5, 2022. That's why the KPK summoned Lukas Enembe as a suspect at the Kotaraja Brimob Headquarters, Jayapura City, Papua, today, Monday (12/9/2022).
"I received information that this case has been investigated, which means that there is already a suspect. There is a letter from the KPK, September 5, the Governor has become a suspect, even though the Governor has not heard his statement at all," Roy told reporters at the Papua Police Mobile Brigade Headquarters, as quoted by Antara. reported by detikSulel.
Roy emphasized that the Criminal Code states that a person who is made a suspect must have two pieces of evidence and have been examined according to the Constitutional Court's decision No. 21 of 2014.
"We regret the unprofessional attitude of the KPK," Roy continued.
Roy admitted that the legal team had received information from Lukas Enembe regarding the case he was facing. According to him, the Rp 1 billion gratuity that entered Lukas Enembe's account was the personal funds concerned for treatment in Singapore in March 2020.
"The money was sent in May 2020 because the governor wanted treatment. If you call it criminalization, yes it is criminalization because it is embarrassing for a governor to receive a gratuity of Rp. 1 billion, how come gratification through transfer, is embarrassing," he said.
